THE WILLINGNESS OF PRIVATE-SECTOR DOCTORS TO MANAGE PUBLIC-SECTOR HIV/AIDS PATIENTS IN THE ETHEKWINI METROPOLITAN REGION OF KWAZULU-NATAL.
- Abstract
The article presents a descriptive cross-sectional study which aims to determine the willingness of the doctor in the private-sector to manage AIDS and HIV patients in the public sector. The willingness of specialists and general practitioners (GPs) who work in eThekwini Metropolitan in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa was investigated through the anonymous structure questionnaire. The results show that 133 GPs and 19 specialists were willing to manage the public patients. Moreover, it concludes the willingness of many doctors in the private sector to manage the patients with regards to the removal of the burden in the public health sector.
