- Abstract
The author reflects on the critical importance of drug-induced long QT syndrome (LQTS) and drug-induced torsades de pointes (TdP) for drug safety and the development of drugs. LQTS and TdP are relatively rare events, however, the consequences can be devastating and tragic. Moreover, the list of drugs that have the potential to cause LQTS is long and may involve multiple classes of agents. Indeed, drug-induced TdP has emerged as one of the most serious issues on drug safety and its development.
