- Abstract
Our patients were both immunocompetent according to their test results, and presented with different symptoms of AUR, limb paresis, and constipation. We report two immunocompetent patients, one case of disseminated HZ mainly in the lower limb with urine retention and limb paralysis, and another case of lower limb HZ with urine retention and constipation. Activation of the lumbar sympathetic outflow leading to contraction of the internal sphincter may be another explanation [[15]]; thus urinary retention was associated with HZ in lumbar segments in the first patient.
