- Abstract
The article examines a rosemary extract, Rosmarinus officinalis, for its in vitro inhibition of rat intestinal α-glucosidase (AGc) activity. Elevation in plasma glucose levels after administration of maltose or sucrose plus the distilled extract was reportedly suppressed compared with glucose levels in mice that did not receive the extract. The results indicate that rosemary extract might be a beneficial food material to prevent obesity and diabetes.
