- Title
AAA To Administer Florida Hurricane Claims.
- Abstract
The article reports that the insurance commissioner of Florida has filed an emergency rule with the Florida Department of State, establishing the use of alternative dispute resolution for disputed claims arising from Hurricane Andrew. Under the program, which is mandatory for insurers, homeowners are offered the option to submit unresolved insurance claims to mediation. Arbitration will also be offered, if requested by both the claimant and the insurer. The insurance commissioner has appointed the American Arbitration Association (AAA) as the administrator of the program. The AAA is establishing a claim facility in Homestead, Florida, to facilitate the work.
