- Abstract
His study is related to the analysis of the composition of “Imam Hüseyin Elegy” written bythe great theologian and philosopher of the XVth century Yazıcıoğlu Mehmet Efendi andcomposed by Hatîb Zâkirî Hasan Efendi from Halvetiyye temple in Nühüft Manner. Thiswas taken from Kerbela elegy which was formed by 54 couplets named as “Vefâtü’l-Hasanve’l Hüseyin” from the second part of his master work Muhammediye. The elegy expresses the pain felt after the martyrdom of Hüseyin and the Ehli Beyt (holly people) and the respectfelt towards them. Nühüft manner shows parallelism with the lyric with its sad and sentimental lamentations. There are two different notations of Imam Hüseyin’s Elegy. The firstwas written by Subhi Ezgi (1869-1962) in with Durak Evfer tempo while the other copy waswritten by Ahmet Hatipoğlu (d.1933) without rhythm. Today, the note which is amendedby Ahmet Hatipoğlu has been used. This study has been conducted to shed light on theImam Hüseyin’s Elegy which was composed by the important composer music of Turkish religious preacher Zakir Hasan and noted by Ahmet Hatipoğlu. In this study both the elegy of form, manner, rhythmic features have been analyzed and the conclusions have been reached regarding the use of Nühüft manner which has existed for nine hundred years in Turkish Music.
