- Abstract
Aims. Stroke and its clinico-functional consequences affect an important part of the population of all ages in the context of various types of diseases having neurologic compound and of increasingly survival. Health related quality of life is a key element in the evaluation of post-stroke care and improving it is the target of both treatment centered on patient and cost efficiency of care. Material and method. We have studied patients with spastic post-stroke hemiparesis admitted to a rehabilitation clinic in January - June 2012 using a battery of tests to measure various parameters before treatment, at the end of it (after about 2 weeks) and at 6 months after the first measurement. It included: MMSE (Mini Mental State Evaluation) to assess cognitive status, adherence testing, FIM scale (Functional Independence Measure) to assess functional independence, VAS (Visual Analogic Scale) for pain, modified Ashworth Scale and Spasm Frequency Scale for spasticity and frequency of spasms and SF-36 (Short Form Health Survey - 36) to assess quality of life. Results. Data will be collected and processed in order to obtain clear conclusions on the effect of the rehabilitation treatment in patients with spastic hemiparesis and collect information on the quality of life in the short and medium term. Conclusions. Conclusions will be grouped and analyzed to be used in order to improve the medical rehabilitation circuit for post-stroke patients and to obtain higher values for indices of quality of life.
