- Abstract
The article analyzes the prevalence of invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) among non-indigenous people before and after the provision of pneumococcal vaccines in north Queensland. Remarkable decline in average annual cases of IPD and serotype IPD was reported after the introduction of vaccines. A 91 percent reduction was observed in children aged 5 years and below while 62 percent for adults aged 15-64 years old. Newly created conjugate vaccines could help reduce more IPD cases in the country.
