- Title
Disciplining American Studies?: A Response to the Presidential Address.
- Authors
Singh, Nikhil Pal
- Abstract
In this article the author discusses a speech given by Philip J. Deloria, president of the American Studies Association, which focuses on his calls to strengthen the interdisciplinary aspect of American studies. He discusses Deloria's views on the intersection between American studies and ethic studies, particularly the institutional divide between the two fields. He contends that the institutional challenges faced by American studies revolve less around its misfit with ethnic studies than with their interdependence.
