TUBERCULOSIS CONTROL: EVALUATION OF THE NURSING TEAM ON THE FRAMEWORK OF HEALTH SERVICES.

- Abstract
Objective: to identify aspects of the health service framework for the control management of tuberculosis in a primary health care service by the nursing staff. Method: this is a descriptive study, an exploratory investigation, cross-sectional cohort. Data were collected in 2009 through interviews with 58 nursing professionals who worked in a primary health care service in São José do Rio Preto-SP. To collect data, a structured instrument based on the Primary Care Assessment Tool (PCAT) was used, in which there were answers according to Likert Scale with values between zero and five. The software Microsoft Excel, version 2007, was used to tabulate data which were analyzed individually by frequency; averaged for length of service in the public and presented in tables. In accordance with Resolution 196/96, the research project was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Nursing School of Ribeirão Preto (Protocol no. 0984/2008) and the Faculty of Medicine of São José do Rio Preto (Protocol no. 7801/2008). Result: the majority of professionals was women; 71.4% of nurses has specialization in the Primary Health Care Service ; 41.4% stated that there were never or almost never available human resources; 98.3% reported that the professionals are prepared to identify suspects of TB; 70.7% have a good perception of the work on the network. Regarding the material resources, all of those interviewed reported that the services had pots to collect sample for tests, available application forms, and 53.5% reported to have refrigerator for packing material. Conclusion: the staff interviewed considered good the structure of services in the care of tuberculosis patients in relation to material resources, but attracted a lot of rotation and insufficient human resources.
