- Abstract
Shows that T-cell production of interferon (IFN)-gamma strongly suppresses osteoclastogenesis by interfering with the receptor activator of nuclear factor (NF)-kappa BETA ligand (RANKL)-RANK signalling pathway. Evidence of cross-talk between the tumor necrosis factor and IFN families of cytokines, through which IFN-gamma provides a negative link between T-cell activation and bone resorption; Implications for inflammation-induced tissue breakdown of autoimmune arthritis.
