- Title
CLAIMS FOR REPARATIONS AND DAMAGES RESULTING FROM VIOLATION OF NEUTRAL RIGHTS.
- Authors
DOWNEY, JR., WILLIAM GERALD
- Abstract
The article discusses the issue of claims for reparations and damages resulting from the violation of neutral rights. As mentioned, neutrality is a significant chapter of international law and has been defined as the condition of those states which take no part in the contest during a war but continue pacific intercourse with the belligerents. A general principle of the law of neutrality is that any violation of neutral rights constitutes an international tort. Acts in violation of the international law of neutrality are defined as those acts which are violations of the peaceful relationship between the neutral and belligerent states.
