The article offers brief profile of Thomas E. Starzl, American physician, researcher, and expert on organ transplant, and pointless to pursue liver transplantation as a therapy since there was no way to prevent rejection. It mentions discovery of immunosuppressive drugs and had explored neuroscience, cardiac physiology, and liver metabolism without committing himself to a career. It also mentions anticancer drug 6-mercaptopurine with rejection of kidney transplants.
