- Abstract
The article presents a study that investigates the in vivo and in vitro digestion of raw starch granules from maize, wheat and potato by Mexican bean weevil or Zabrotes subfasciatus Boheman and yellow mealworm or Tenebrio molitor L. It mentions the use of in-gel assays to detect midgut α-amylasess and of scanning electron microscopy to obtain the images of starch granules. It reveals that granule type is more affective than α-amylasess in the digestion of the starch granule.
