- Abstract
The article presents a research on the attitudes toward women with HIV/AIDS scale. It analyzes the principal components of the issue yielded a four-factor structure such as child care, myths and negative stereotypes, reproduction and contraception issues and sympathy and transmission route, which account for 48.6% of the total variance of attitudes toward women with HIV/AIDS. It reflects that the attitude scales have historically measured attitudes toward people with HIV/AIDS (PWA) generally without considering group specific issues so that the existing scales may not be sufficient to measure attitudes toward specific groups among women. The researchers used demographics questionnaire as the method, which measured demographic characteristics of the participants including gender, age, race, academic year in college, religion and sexual preference. The article also discusses the principal component analysis and the reliability of the response. It also discusses the contributions of the study to the literature concerning attitudes toward the PWA.
