The edema was under such control for one and one-half years prior to the present episode. The concept of persistence of the fetal valves of the sinus venosus producing diverse types of diaphragms obstructing the right atrium at various levels in at least four distinct combinations, some of which have an increased incidence of complex congenital cardiac abnormalities. Since the present case represents a separate, previously unreported variant, it is necessary to briefly describe formation of the right atrium as it pertains to this anomaly.
