- Abstract
The article discusses the challenges and possible strategies to increase interest in infectious diseases (ID) subspecialization. Topics include the factors that influence the interest in ID careers like internal medicine, strategies to promote interest in ID which include the need to enhance and increase the amount of formal pedagogy, increasing exposure of learners to careers in ID, and increasing opportunities for scholarship/mentorship, and the perceived barriers to pursue ID careers.
