- Title
Diagnostic criteria in multiple sclerosis: Headed in the right direction but still a ways to go.
- Authors
Rudick, Richard A.
- Abstract
The author reflects on the diagnostic criteria in multiple sclerosis (MS). He states that researcher C.M. Poser introduced the diagnostic criteria that incorporated nonclinical testing for the first time, which was developed for research protocols and a generation of clinical trials. He highlights the diagnostic criteria introduced by C.H. Polman, which formally recognize neuromyelitis optica (NMO) as a separate condition.
