- Abstract
The article presents information on developments related to animal torture and insurance law in the U.S. from October 2007 through October 2008. In Rougher v. Burd, Christine Rougher, president of private, nonprofit Keystone Golden Retriever Rescue, Inc., and Pennsylvania state dog warden Tracy Miller sued various officials of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Dog Law Protection: Executive Director Rick Burd and Director of Enforcement Mary Bender. On June 19, 2007, the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation established the multidistrict litigation (MDL) In re Pet Food Products Liability Litigation and on August 20, 2007, conditionally transferred all cases to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
