- Abstract
An essay is presented on the digitization of the film lecture (FL) performance of "Wild America" by Roger Tory Peterson as part of the National Audubon Society's FL series known as the Audubon Screen Tours. It examines Peterson as a mythical thinker and his practice of ritualization. It explores Peterson's use of motion pictures in sharing his love of birds with his audience. Also mentioned is Peterson's friendship with British naturalist James Fisher which inspired the making of the film.
