- Abstract
The article discusses the historical motion picture "Untold Scandal," directed by E. J-yong. The author notes trends in the production of historical films in Korea and suggests that "Untold Scandal," based on the novel "Les Liaisons dangereuses," by Choderlos de Laclos, defied genre conventions by representing contemporary social attitudes. He discusses how the film's characters deviate from Confucian values and illustrate gender politics and suggests the film references other films containing nostalgic views of Korean history and melodramas depicting the sexual behavior of women.
