- Title
Suggested Programs for a Science Club.
- Authors
Miller, Donald W.
- Abstract
The article suggests some programs for science clubs. The objectives of the programs should be determined before making any suggestions as to the programs for the club. The literature on extra-curricular activities in secondary education, sets up aims for science clubs. These aims may either be a single purpose or a group of purposes. The club's supervisor should guide the pupils in setting up worthwhile aims for the club. The pupils should plan the programs for the various meetings of the club. For a discussion of exhibit work for science clubs one can refer to a paper "Outside of Classroom Activities in Science," by L.C. Feldman. This paper presents information about a number of exhibits which students take interest in arranging. Another paper by Dr. Morris Meister, entitled "Managing a Science Club," presents a discussion of methods of conducting phases of science club work. The paper focuses on a method of generating interest and activity in this work by means of having the demonstrations center about an awards system called the Point System.
