- Abstract
Professor Kenji Mori, the 53rd president and honorary member of JSBBA, passed away in 2019 at the age of 84. He was born in 1935 in Okayama, Japan, and grew up in the countryside, which greatly influenced his life as a scientist. Professor Mori made significant contributions to the field of organic chemistry, particularly in the synthesis of gibberellins and insect pheromones. He published over 850 original papers throughout his career and received numerous prestigious awards. Despite being diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, Professor Mori continued his research and experiments until shortly before his death. He was known for his enthusiasm, dedication, and love for his family.
