- Abstract
O presente estudo teve como finalidade a avaliação da eficácia anti-helmíntica de produto à base de ivermectina 1% e praziquantel 7,5% (Fortium, Biogénesis Bagó Saúde Animal) em equinos naturalmente parasitados por helmintos gastrintestinais. Para tal foram seguidas as recomendações da The World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology. Esse estudo foi conduzido em quatro parcelas, atingindo sete animais para cada grupo experimental (controle e tratado). Para a randomização foi usado como critério os resultados dos exames de fezes (OPG) obtidos pela técnica McMaster para ovos do tipo estrongiloidea, além das técnicas de centrífugo flutuação simples e flutuação simples modificada. Os equinos foram aclimatados durante 10 dias, permanecendo em baias individuais. Os animais do grupo tratado receberam no dia 0 o produto Fortium na dose de 1,0 ml/50 kg de peso corporal por via oral. Após o tratamento, as fezes de todos os animais foram coletadas e analisadas nos dias 7 e 14. As eutanásias e necropsias foram realizadas no D+14. O estômago, intestino delgado e grosso foram alocados em bandejas separadas, abertos e tiveram suas mucosas raspadas. O raspado foi colocado junto ao conteúdo do órgão. Para a análise do estômago e intestino delgado foram coletados os conteúdos totais; já para o intestino grosso, 10% foi coletado. O conteúdo de cada órgão junto ao raspado de sua mucosa foram alocados em peneira de metal contendo uma abertura de 100 malhas por polegada, submetida à lavagem em água corrente. O material lavado foi fixado em formol acético a 5% e mantido em frascos contendo a identificação do animal, ensaio e data. Posteriormente, o conteúdo total obtido a partir do estômago e do intestino delgado foram aliquotados em 10%. As alíquotas foram examinadas com o auxílio de microscópio estereoscópico, sendo os nematoides encontrados, quantificados e identificados em nível de espécie sob exame microscópico. A eficácia foi calculada para cada espécie/gênero/subfamília de parasito por meio da fórmula: [(média de helmintos recuperados dos animais controle - média de helmintos recuperados nos animais tratados) ÷ (média de helmintos recuperados nos animais controle)] x 100. Os seguintes parasitas foram encontrados e suas respectivas porcentagens de eficácia obtidas foram: Strongylus vulgaris (94,95%), Strongylus edentatus (94,23%), Streptococcus equinus (92,31%), Triodontophorus tenuiculis (92,22%), membros da subfamília Cyathostominae (99,98%), Oxyuris equi (91,92%), Poecilia vivípara (95,80%), Anoplocephala perfoliata (100%) e Anoplocephalia magna (100%). Com base nos resultados observados e no nível mínimo de 90% de eficácia anti-helmíntica requerida para que um produto seja considerado anti-helmíntico, pode-se afirmar que o produto Fortium foi efetivo no controle dos parasitas gastrointestinais de equinos acima citados, apresentando atividade anti-helmíntica.
