- Abstract
The article reports on foodborne botulism cases in Texas and Indiana in July 2007. There were four cases of botulism reportedly associated with Castleberry's hot dog chili sauce. Botulinum toxin type A was found in the serum of one patient and in a leftover chili mixture obtained from his house. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a consumer advisory while Castleberry's Food Co. recalled its products. Details of ongoing investigation and some precautionary measures are presented.
