- Abstract
Objective: To explore the expression and significance of Substance P (SP) in the endometriosis. Methods: The expression of SP in 20 cases of ectopic endometria from patients with EM, 10 cases of eutopic endometria from the same patients with EM and 20 cases of normal endometria from patients with hysteromyoma suffering laparoscopic hysterectomy or myomectomy were determined by immunohistochemical method and these endometria were confirmed by laparoscopy and pathology in the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University from October 2012 to April 2013 and the incidence of cases with pelvic adhesions in the surgery was analyzed and compared. Results: The positive percentage of ectopic, eutopic and normal endometria were 75%, 80% and 20%, respectively. There was no difference between ectopic and eutopic endometria (P=1.0); Both positive percentages of ectopic and eutopic endometria were significantly higher than that of the normal endometria (P=0.002, P=0.004); For the pelvic adhesion, the positive percentage of EM was higher than that of the control group and the SP-positive group was higher than the SP-negative group in the ectopic endometria, both of the differences were significant (P=0.001, P=0.032), but there was no significant difference between SP-positive group and the SP-negative group in the normal endometria (P=0.061). Conclusion: SP in the ectopic and eutopic endometria ofEM is up-regulated and it is related with patients ofEM with pelvic adhesion, but the exacted mechanism needs further study.
