- Abstract
The article discusses the theory, practice and base of the DRUMBEAT program used across Australia and New Zealand with young people at risk and its link to the principles of the Circle of Courage model. The program used the incentive of music as a tool for engagement and inclusion among young people. The program's flexibility that allows the facilitator to adapt the course content to the needs of group members is acknowledged. The importance of the universal relevance of relationship themes in the program to people facing numerous types of social challenges is also noted.
