- Abstract
This article, published in the Multiple Sclerosis Journal, discusses three cases of recurrent symptomatic late-onset neutropenia (LON) in patients with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (MS) who were being treated with ocrelizumab. LON has been previously documented in non-neurological autoimmune diseases and haematological malignancies following rituximab treatment. The cause of LON is not well understood, but potential factors include neutrophil autoantibody production and myeloid progenitor cells. The article concludes that further studies are needed to understand the effect of anti-CD20 on neutrophil function and to identify any predisposing host factors.
