- Abstract
Black lung or Coal Worker's Pneumoconiosis (CWP) and/or silicosis is a major health problem for miners. Conditions have improved in the post nationalization era but the risk to miners remains. The working conditions in coal mines should be sufficiently free of respirable dust concentrations.. A study has been done on what is actual scenario of occupational Health services in coal mining industries as against the existing statutory requirements, with particular emphasis on physiological parameters, and what is required to be done. Each large Colliery or cluster of small collieries in an area should have Occupational Health Centre and a Centralize Occupational Health facilities at Area level with Modern Equipments which include of digital X-ray and Computed tomography (CT). Spirometer can be used for lung function test. Patient monitoring system can be used to know patients vital sign. This will lead to proper e-governance of health services with the state of the art information and medical technologies.
