- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined the gene expression profiles of fresh tissue Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPV)-negative Merkel cell carcinomas (MCC). In the study, the cases of a male in his 60s with biopsy-proven MCC on his lower lip and a man in his 50s with MCC on his left nasolabial fold were examined. Based on the study, the subjects showed unchanged level of expression of survivin, an inhibitor of apoptosis proteins.
