- Title
Sunshine Laws and the Pharmaceutical Industry.
- Authors
Brennan, Troyen A.; Mello, Michelle M.
- Abstract
The article is an editorial discussing the Sunshine Laws and transparency in the Pharmaceutical Industry. The author believes that while pharmaceutical companies are developing drugs cost-effectively, the gifts to physicians and their institutions pharmacy companies make is a conflict of interest both legally and ethically. The Sunshine Laws, enacted in Vermont and Minnesota, require drug manufacturers to disclose the amount of money given to physicians. The author states that this may also hurt the pharmaceutical industry by leading to mistrust by the public and professional sector.
