- Abstract
The article looks at the use of varenicline for smoking cessation. The article examines three studies on varenicline published in this issue of the "Journal of the American Medical Association." Several limitations and side effects were associated with the use of varenicline, including nausea, abnormal dreams, and dropout rates. Most of the studies took place at academic medical centers. The article discusses the participants in the studies, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval of varenicline, nicotine replacement therapy, and bupropion.
