- Abstract
The article presents a study which explores the physiology and challenges related to preoxygenation and maintenance of oxygenation during intubation in the critically ill patients. It explains the purpose of preoxygenation in critically ill patients and the reasons why interpretation of preoxygenation data in critically ill patients is difficult. It also offers recommendations about preoxygenation and denitrogenation.
