The author discusses the report "Building a Culture of Candour," (BCC) by the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS), commissioned by the Great Britain Department of Health, to review the statutory duty of candour of the medical profession in the country. Topics include the importance of honesty in doctors and other healthcare workers and organizations, the barriers to openness existing in the medical culture, and the inconsistency of the fundamental policy of the National Health Service (NHS).
