- Title
Chronic deep white matter ischemic changes-A new risk factor to predict strokes following aortic arch surgery.
- Authors
Lazar, Harold L.
- Abstract
The article offers information on strategy to decrease the incidence of perioperative strokes during aortic arch surgery which involves the detection of white matter ischemic changes (WMIC) on preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans in patients prior to aortic arch replacement. It includes use of data to determine patients which are at higher risk to develop a stroke during aortic arch surgery.
