- Abstract
The article titled "Community participation from public health for addressing chronic child malnutrition in Bogotá" presents a study on chronic child malnutrition in Bogotá and the importance of community participation in addressing it. The authors of the study are Daniela Garzón-Sánchez, Nicolás Pardo-Díaz, Juliana Herrera-Caqueza, Karen Bautista-Sarmiento, Laura Ariza-Bayona, María Camila Gómez Fonseca, Laura Vanessa Erazo Sánchez, and Marcela Gómez-Suarez. The objective of the study is to analyze the role of kainate and metabotropic glutamate receptors in synaptic potentiation in the mouse hippocampus. The results show that these receptors are necessary for the induction of long-term potentiation (LTP) but not for short-term potentiation (STP). The article also addresses the issue of chronic child malnutrition in Colombia and presents a co-creation project with the community in the Mártires neighborhood of Bogotá to identify knowledge, attitudes, and dietary practices and promote contextualized nutritional strategies. The project includes activities such as "My little market," "Shared snacks," "Feeding little hearts," and "Master Chef My Little Market." The study concludes that this collaborative and participatory approach can generate long-term solutions to improve the well-being of communities affected by chronic child malnutrition.
