- Authors
Street, John C.
- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the suffix "-ba" as used in the Middle Mongolian language. A brief historical overview of the language, with mention of its seven suffixal elements that end a predicate, is presented. According to the author, focus is given on the "-ba" ending because it is the most widely used. He also cites the many variants to this suffix which led to some misunderstanding among the Chinese scholars who transcribed into Chinese writing the original text of the "Secret History," which was written in the vertical Mongol script.
