- Abstract
The article focuses on the importance for scientists to consider the advantage of using flagship umbrella species in the conservation efforts of aquatic biodiversity. It provides overview of the criteria used in selection flagship species based on sociocultural considerations and ecological requirements. It also mentions the advantage of the approach which can result to successful conservation on a full range of biodiversity.
