- Abstract
En el estado de Amazonas (la unidad federativa más grande del país), el denso bosque ecuatorial - de difícil penetración humana - y las grandes distancias han contribuido para que, historicamente, la hidrografia se ha convertido en una importante red de organización territorial. En las últimas dos décadas, una serie de reestructuraciones territoriales impuestas y organizadas por el avance de nuevos agentes económicos en el Amazonas - especialmente los establecidos a través de la Zona de Libre Comercio de Manaus, de la expansión de la frontera agrícola brasileña (agronegocios), del fomento a la urbanización y ocupación territorial y de los megaproyectos (minería, energía y productos petroleros) - estipularon una expansión de los flujos fijos involucrados en el transporte por vías navegables. A través de las líneas de transporte de agua del estado amazónico circularon, aproximadamente, 1,7 millones de pasajeros durante el año de 2017. Manaus emerge como el foco central de gestión, organización y dispersión de este complejo sistema. Además de las pequeñas estaciones de embarque, la capital estatal cuenta con trece grandes plataformas portuarias en actividad, que fueron responsables, durante el período de 2010 a 2018, por el movimiento de casi 200 millones de toneladas de carga. Tales elementos muestran las redes como verdaderos transmisores del proceso de globalización y destacan la importancia de la fluidez que el capitalismo contemporáneo necesita para la reproducción en un carácter sistémico y global.
