- Abstract
The article presents the summary of a research paper analyzing mast cell degranulation in human skin following the application of capsaicin. The paper was presented at the meeting of the British Society for Dermatopathology, which was held on 19 July 1990, at Warwick, in England. The study shows that capsaicin treatment causes mast cell degranulation. Since capsaicin itself does not release histamine from mast cells, capsaicin-induced release of peptides from neurons could cause mast cell degranulation.
