- Abstract
The article summarizes the results of an analysis of the prevalence of doctor-diagnosed arthritis and arthritis-attributable activity limitation (AAAL) in the U.S. from 2007 to 2009. An analysis of National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) data was made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Roughly 49.9 million adults reported doctor-diagnosed arthritis, while 21.1 million reported AAAL during the period. There was a significant increase in age-adjusted arthritis prevalence. A CDC editorial note on the analysis is presented.
