- Abstract
The article focuses on the fungal microbiota present in the oral mucosa of lizards from the Brazilian semiarid region. Topics discussed include the diversity of fungal species in the oral cavities of lizards such as Ameivula ocellifera, Hemidactylus mabouia, and Nothobachia ablephara; the potential role of lizards in fungal spore dispersion; and the importance of understanding fungal pathogens in wild reptiles for epidemiological research.
