- Abstract
Peripheral keratocystic odontogenic tumour is a rare disease occurring in the gingiva and displaying histopathological characteristics similar to keratocystic odontogenic tumour. The patient was a 63-year-old man complaining of gingival swelling in the mandibular premolar region. A raised mass lesion 15 mm in diameter covered with normal epithelium was observed on the buccal gingiva of the left mandibular premolar region. Panoramic radiography and computed tomography excluded intraosseous cyst or tumour. Needle aspiration examination revealed paste-like, pale yellow contents. The raised lesion was surgically resected. Histopathologically, the cyst wall comprised squamous epithelium with parakeratosis. Peripheral keratocystic odontogenic tumour was diagnosed.
