- Abstract
The article focuses on scrub typhus infection caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi gram-negative cocobacillus. Topics discussed include need for vertebrate blood meal for development of larval stage of mite, occurrence of an eschar at the site of the chigger bite which forms shallow necrotic ulcers, and recommendation for early initiation of intravenous azithromycin or oral doxycycline to treat scrub typhus.
