- Abstract
The objective of the study was to identify and analyze the evidence available in the literature in the last 12 years, on the actions developed by health professionals with a focus on the performance of nurses in Primary Care in Brazil for the control of Diabetes mellitus. This is an integrative review study. The LILACS, SciELO and BDENF databases were used to search for studies, including articles published in English, Spanish and Portuguese, from december 2010 to december 2020. 19,677 studies were identified, 60 were selected for reading in full and 23 included and categorized. After analyzing the studies, the following analytical categories were elaborated: Health promotion for education strategies as a working tool for diabetes control; Strategies for the systematization of nursing consultations for people with Diabetes and Health assessment strategies as a management tool for decision-making aimed at controlling Diabetes. There was a concentration of studies related to strategies for health promotion and education, with emphasis on the group approach and offering guidance to people with diabetes mellitus in consultations and home visits, which are effective actions for controlling diabetes.
