- Abstract
The article discusses the ways in which the U.S. can combat the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Topics include the use of conventional U.S. military power alongwith the support of Kurdish allies, the failure of the social-science approach to warfare which consists of engagement including officer exchange, joint military exercises and infrastructure projects, and lessons from the U.S.'s military operations in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq.
