- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the association between cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) signal-to-noise ratio variance (SNRV) and QRS duration in myotonic muscular dystrophy (MMD). The authors hypothesized that the SNRV could possibly provide a surrogate measure of spatially heterogeneous myocardial fibrosis. They note that QRS prolongation does not fully mediate the link between myocardial fibrosis and sudden death. They conclude that SNRV is possibly a better predictor of clinical events compared with baseline electrocardiography (ECG) abnormalities.
