- Abstract
The article reports on the recent trends of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in Italian Region. It is said that over the time period of 20 years, there is a reduction of HIV infection in Italian region compared to other European areas. Moreover, in recent years, it is confirmed that there is a growing diffusion of HIV among the general population mainly due to risky sexual behavior and an increasing proportion of subjects with a late HIV diagnosis. However, these observations should raise urgent wide-spread information campaigns and underline the need to extend HIV testing to reach mysterious HIV-infected subjects.
