- Abstract
To improve the circular polarization and 3 dB axial ratio ( AR) bandwidth of microstrip antenna, a serial feed network was designed with equal spoke, wide bandwidth and 90° phase difference between any two ports by sequential rotation method. On this basis, a micro band antenna was designed with broadband circular polarization. The antenna was consisted of a ring patch, four fan-shaped feeding strips and a serial feeding network. The serial feeding network was placed on the bottom dielectric plate. The output end was connected through four copper pillars with a fan-shaped feeding strips, which excited the ring -shaped patch. The geometry of the antenna were simulated and optimized by the HFSS software. The overall size of the antenna is 110 mm×110 mm×17 mm. Simulation shows that the band for S11 <-10 dB is from 1. 7 GHz to 2. 38 GHz ( 28. 2% ) and the 3 dB axial ratio band is from 1. 85 GHz to 2. 31 GHz ( 22. 1% ) . Moreover, the tested result of the fabricated antenna is congruent with the simulation results.
