- Abstract
New oligomeric compounds containing long aliphatic chains with polar nitrogen-containing terminal groups are successfully used as clay modifiers in a one-step process for producing polymer-aluminosilicate nanocomposites. Polymer-aluminosilicate nanocomposites based on medium density polyethylene containing modifiers of various chemical structures (the length of the modifier aliphatic chain and the structure of the terminal polar group are varied) are presented. The influence of the method on the structure and physicomechanical properties of the composites is studied. It is shown that the use of oligomeric modifiers with an aliphatic chain length of 80–90 carbon atoms provides a more pronounced reinforcement of the composite. At the same time, the physicomechanical characteristics of the composite are more significantly affected by the length of the modifier aliphatic chain and the structure of the composite is influenced by the structure of the terminal polar group of the modifier.
